Brazilian slab export price continues to rise sharply

On March 11, the export evaluation price of Brazilian slab was USD1100-1200 / ton (FOB), with a weekly increase of USD300-350 / ton.

According to the Brazilian market news, last week, Brazilian slab suppliers mainly released slab export quotations to Europe, the United States and Mexico. At the beginning of last week, the transaction price of Brazilian slabs ordered by European buyers was 1050-1100 US dollars / ton (FOB). At the end of last week, the export quotation of Brazilian slabs has been raised to 1200 US dollars / ton (FOB). Some market participants said that due to the lack of slab supply from Russia and Ukraine in the international market, many plate manufacturers are snapping up slab inventory to ensure plate production in the medium term, especially some European manufacturers.

Traditionally, the United States is the main export market of Brazilian slabs. At present, the demand for Brazilian slabs in the U.S. market is relatively calm. From January to March 2022, the export quota of Brazilian slabs to the United States was 1.05 million tons, and 56.55% of the quota had been used up as of March 7.
